猴年是「Year of the Monkey」，雞年卻不是「Year of the Chicken」？各種生肖、祝賀語，以及春節相關物品英文該怎麼說？還有…你知道怎麼跟外國朋友用英文表達「福祿猴」嗎？一起來學習吧！

一、十二生肖

最近很火紅的「福祿猴」該怎麼講呢？如果直接翻譯的話，「福」是 fortune ，「祿」是 prosperity ，所以福祿猴是「the monkey of fortune and prosperity」。

但…這樣講未免太冗長了，如果參考最近的英文新聞報導，可以知道直接音譯為「Fulu Monkey」就好囉！

生肖的英文是「Chinese zodiac sign」或是「Chinese animal sign」，至於12種動物的名稱如下：

1. 鼠：Rat （不能用 mouse）
2. 牛：Ox （不能用 cow）
3. 虎：Tiger
4. 兔：Rabbit
5. 龍：Dragon
6. 蛇：Snake
7. 馬：Horse
8. 羊：Goat（不能用 sheep）
9. 猴：Monkey
10. 雞：Rooster（不能用 chicken）
11. 狗：Dog
12. 豬：Pig

「Year of the（填入上面的動物）」，可以用來表達某個生肖年：

A: What’s the Chinese zodiac / animal sign of 2016?（2016 是什麼年？）
B: It’s the year of the Monkey.（是猴年）
